Some people are not interested in making any effort to mend their ways, thinking that they will fall right back into their bad habits and mistakes and that it is therefore not worth even trying to improve themselves.

Well, this is not sound reasoning, for it does not matter whether you succeed the first time; the key is to choose the right orientation and to remain true to this choice.
Falls are not serious in themselves – each time you fall, you acquire something more.

So do not become discouraged. If you reflect on each of your failures in order to learn from them, one day, you will have a real arsenal of notions and methods with which to triumph in any situation.
