For most people, happiness consists in being loved. Of course, they are willing to love a little as well, but they believe that it is more important to be loved.

And if you doubt this, why do they suffer so much when they learn that their beloved does not love them back or loves them less than they had hoped? They wait for love to come from elsewhere to make them happy. And if it does not come – or if it comes but does not last – they feel deprived.

They have no faith in their own power and strength to love; they need someone outside themselves to give them love. In truth, they must know that to find peace and joy, they must stop looking to others for love, but decide to count solely on their own love.
