When Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain’ “Move from here to there,” and it will move’, of course, this mountain is symbolic. It represents the great difficulties in life that only faith enables us to move, that is to say, to resolve.
We can move these mountains stone by stone in one year, two years, ten years. You think that this is too long and you would like it to be done right away.
Well, in that case, you must work like ants who in no time are able to transport real mountains of grain – proportionally, they are mountains to them! Yes, but an ant does not work alone, masses of them work together.
Isolation and selfishness will never enable us to move mountains. If great things have been achieved over the course of history, it is because men and women joined forces to work together.
To move mountains is to tear down the obstacles within ourselves and in the world that are opposed to the coming of the kingdom of God.
