Thought of the Day

Disciples who work to attract celestial fire know that this fire will only come to a place that has been especially prepared for it. Such disciples work tirelessly to purify and sanctify this place, which is of course within themselves. Through meditation, prayer, and the daily practice of the virtues, they build a dwelling of pure, luminous matter so that the fire may recognize its own quintessence, and be drawn to it. In Christian tradition, this celestial fire is called the Holy Spirit, and the feast of Pentecost celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus’ disciples in the form of flames or tongues of fire. It was then that they received the gifts of healing, prophecy and speaking in tongues, because the Holy Spirit never comes alone. It is accompanied by angels, archangels,...

Thought of the Day

If you manage to gain increasingly better control of your gestures, feelings and thoughts, you can change your destiny, for our destiny depends precisely on the control we are able to exercise over everything we do. And just what is a Master? A Master is someone who has achieved control of every aspect of their being on the different planes* – physical, astral and mental. At that point, the forces of nature obey them, the spirits obey them, and even animals, plants and stones obey them. That is true mastery, true royalty. Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

Word of the Day

Conviction is one of the greatest powers there is. We have seen certain leaders sway entire crowds with their convictions. Even if the ideas they championed were stupid or criminal, in the end, the strength of their conviction won over even the most reluctant. For conviction is a power – directed towards evil, it creates havoc and destruction; but it can also transform the world when it springs from a divine idea and works for the good. The conviction of a disciple is founded on a knowledge of divine laws and on experiences in past or present incarnations. When a disciple has acquired this knowledge and has lived it, they possess an unshakeable conviction that renders them all-powerful. If, on the contrary, a disciple lacks such conviction, it is because their knowledge is incomplete. Omraam...

Word of the Day

We see the same natural process throughout the universe: from chaos must emerge order, beauty and perfection. However, the exact opposite is currently happening in the art world. We look at a painting and wonder what it represents – a man, an animal, an object or a landscape – there is no longer any distinction; it is a return to chaos. Yet, nature’s intelligence always works towards differentiation and organization: a single cell divides and a few months later, a human being appears in all its richness and complexity. Must we now reverse course and become single-celled again? No, that would be a regression, but it is in this very direction that many artists, who are neither educated nor enlightened, would lead us. Thought of the Day

You must not imagine that your intellect is all it takes to be able to understand. In its true sense, understanding is not the work of a few brain cells; it occurs throughout the whole body, even in the feet, the arms, the belly, the liver, and so on. Every cell in one’s entire body must understand. Understanding is a feeling. You feel, and at that moment you understand and you know, because you have tasted it. No intellectual understanding can compare to this feeling. When you experience love, when you experience hatred, anger, or grief, you know what it is. If you say, ‘I know what love is’ without ever having been in love, you are mistaken, you do not know. But if you have felt love, you know it. You may not be able to explain it or express it, but you know well and truly what...

Word of the Day

If you take the time to think deeply about Jesus’ words, ‘My Father is still working, and I also am working’, unlimited horizons will open up to you. Instead, you leave Jesus to his work with his Father, while you tend to your chickens and your pigs. You will say, ‘But there is a world of difference between Jesus and us! He is the Christ, he is perfect, while we… it would be arrogant to imagine we could do the same work he does.’ Fine, think what you will, but Jesus thought differently since he said, ‘Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect’ or again, ‘The one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these.’ This is why I say to you that Christians are lazy. They would have us believe that humility...

Thought of the Day

The work of an Initiate can be compared to that of nature. What does nature do? It speaks to us, sending us messages all the time; it does not use words, yet it speaks to us – the sun, stars, forests, lakes, oceans and mountains speak to us, constantly communicating something of their life, their secrets. These communications are recorded within us, but we are not conscious of them. Yet, it is thanks to them that little by little, our sensitivity is enriched, and our understanding improves. We do not know how this understanding comes about, but it does. This is also how Initiates speak to us: by means of the currents and rays they emit, the particles they give off. Thought of the Day

It is written in the Gospels that we must always serve one Master. So, if we do not serve Christ and the light, we are obliged to serve the devil and darkness. These are laws. If you say, ‘Oh! I don’t accept the light, I don’t accept Christ, I want to be free’, well, you will be unable to prevent hell from settling within you. Those who seek freedom in this way do not really seek it, since they discover slavery instead. Another entity begins to instruct them, and as they are ignorant, they allow themselves to be taken in, imagining that it is they themselves who wish and desire, when in fact they are doing someone else’s bidding. But humans do not understand – they are like children who want to be free to do all kinds of stupid or dangerous things that will ultimately limit...

Thought of the Day

Most people will not dare tell you the truth about yourself, about your flaws and weaknesses, because they are afraid of losing your services or making an enemy of you. So, behind this amiable, tactful attitude lies self-interest, and as a result, you retain your faults, which only worsen over time. True Initiates behave differently. They have no personal interest, they are not afraid and they have nothing to lose. Since they know the truth, they already have it all, and so they show you your imperfections, especially those that cause you harm and keep you in the lower regions. They dare to tell you what makes you ill and unhappy. Why? Because they are actually your best friend, and they want to give you the means to correct your failings. Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

Thought of the Day

Bottling up sexual energy solely on the pretext of obeying the rules established by the Church or by society is what is simply called repression; and repression cannot be a solution to the problem of sexuality. Repression is the refusal to give a natural outlet to sexual force without having in mind an ideal powerful enough to be able to work on the higher planes to channel and transform this force. True renunciation must not be a deprivation, but a transposition onto another plane. The same activity continues, but it is directed towards the higher planes. We must not deprive ourselves, we must not do without, but rather shift what we were doing below to on high, so that instead of drinking water from a swamp – symbolically speaking – we drink water from a pure, crystal-clear spring. Omraam...

Word of the Day

The most sublime lesson taught to us by the sun is universality. It does not care whether the creatures to whom it sends its rays are intelligent or stupid, good or criminal, deserving or not. It sends light to them all without distinction. Consider the most extraordinary beings who have ever lived: they have all had a few biases, a few preferences and even a few animosities. Yes, even the greatest prophets, the greatest Masters could not quite free themselves from the need to enforce the law of justice and punish the wicked, for nothing is more difficult than to rid ourselves completely of any sense of animosity. Only the sun is truly able to do so. For millions of years, it has been patiently waiting for creatures to attain perfection, knowing that we are divine sparks and that we will...

Word of the Day

It is not forbidden to love precious stones or even to wish to own them, as long as you know how to consider them. ‘So how should we consider them?’ you ask. As a link to the spiritual world. You must concentrate on them – on their purity, their colours, on their power to transmit light – and ask them to enter into you with all their properties and virtues, so that your entire being is emblazoned with the sparkling fire of sapphires, diamonds, rubies, emeralds, topazes, and so on. This is why we should love and seek precious stones. Not to use them as adornment, but to be enlightened and nourished by their quintessence. Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

Word of the Day

You must seek harmony because you love harmony, because you need harmony, because you need to enter into the universal symphony. This is how you will open the doors to the luminous forces and entities of nature that will rush in and settle inside you. To bring yourself into harmony means to open yourself up and this opening is what allows the luminous forces to penetrate within you. You will say, ‘Yes, but how do I open myself up?’ Quite simply by loving. When we love, harmony is established and then the doors and windows open and all the blessings of heaven enter into you. Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

Quote of the Day

Humans do not know how to live in the world of wonder and poetic imagination. Even artists, painters, poets, movie directors and playwrights tend to portray the crudest, most repulsive reality in their art – as if we were not already all too familiar with such things. In order to flourish, it is far better for human beings to immerse themselves in the beauty of an enchanted world that will instil in them the desire to reach for it and to dwell there. You will say, ‘But that world is not real!’ Well, in fact, this unreal world is the absolute reality. This is where we finally feel like we are living in purity and light. True reality must be sought on high in the realm of the soul and the spirit. Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

Word of the Day

Nature, which is foresighted, has discovered a radical way to fight laziness – the stomach. As people are hungry, they are forced to sort themselves out and find something to eat: either they find their own food or they work to be able to buy it. If they were not hungry, they would not do a thing, that is for sure. Need and want are the only remedies for laziness. This is why lazy people must be left wanting, for it is this want that will cure them. Unfortunately, many mothers find it difficult to grasp this truth. Because their love for their children is blind, they want to spare their children from need, and this is how they drive them to laziness and weakness. Mothers are able to understand many things, except that true love entails getting their children to work, because it is through...
