Thought of the Day

Christian tradition, following on from Jewish tradition, teaches the existence of nine angelic orders. From bottom to top, these are the angels, the archangels, the principalities, the virtues, the powers, the dominions, the thrones, the Cherubim, and the Seraphim. The Cabbalah names them cherubim, bnei-elohim, elohim, malakhim, seraphim, hashmalim, aralim, ophanim, and hayoth hakadesch. Each of these angelic orders is an aspect of divine power and virtues. Even if we cannot picture them, it is easier to create an idea of them and to relate to the divine world if we pronounce their names rather than simply pronouncing the word 'God'. It is important for your spiritual development to know that these angelic hierarchies exist, for they are like beacons along your path to the summit. Try...

Word of the Day

One way or another, every problem we have to solve in life and each of our decisions and experiences brings up the question of what we must sacrifice in order to live a rich and beautiful life. But most humans, not having understood what sacrifice is, see it as deprivation and loss, and there are indeed unnecessary sacrifices which can thus be seen as losses. Know that making sacrifices, in the spiritual sense of the word, is not about sacrificing yourself, but to let something useless or harmful die within you, in order to receive something great, powerful and precious in return. If you do not sacrifice something inferior in you in favour of fostering something superior, you will no doubt sacrifice what is best in you to the benefit of the most unrefined instincts. It is impossible to...

Thought of the Day

Why is it that so many members of the clergy depict God as a ruthless judge who punishes humans for the slightest transgression they make? In reality, God does not administer punishment, but the universe he created is based on laws, and these laws also govern human beings and their physical life, as well as their psychic and spiritual life. It is these laws that are strict, and those who do not respect them expose themselves to punishment. And as a result, this punishment may even spread down to their children. Take a well-known example – that of alcoholism. Alcohol abuse is detrimental not only to the physical and mental health of those who overindulge, but also to that of their children. The same is true for all other kinds of overindulgence and transgression. This is how divine Justice...

Thought of the Day

Spiritual life is a long walk towards a promised land that is first and foremost within us, and we must set off again each day to draw closer to it. Just like nomads in the desert continually search for wells and oases, we must constantly keep moving. So many spiritualists believe that they will find the Promised Land while staying in the same place. They shut themselves up inside themselves – symbolically speaking in a house with thick walls – and not only do they remain inside, but they amass countless useless and cumbersome objects. They would do better to leave this house behind and take only what is necessary for their journey. In order to reach the Promised Land, all they need is a small tent and to cultivate sobriety by seeking food for their soul and spirit. Omraam Mikhaël...

Thought of the Day

Artists who painted angels, archangels and divinities, often depicted them in magnificent clothes and adorned with gold and precious stones. They intuitively knew there was a correspondence between spiritual wealth and material wealth. The tradition of sacerdotal vestments adorned with precious stones, still present to this day, has the same meaning: an officiating priest's spiritual wealth must be shown by the external wealth of their clothing. And if you too wear jewellery adorned with precious stones, know that you must also possess these stones within you: sapphires symbolize peace; rubies, love; amethysts, sacrifice; the topaz, wisdom; emeralds, hope; diamonds, strength of spirit. There is endless wealth in the symbolism of precious stones and their full power is yet unknown. Omraam...

Quote of the Day

The physical forms of people who have lived on the earth are recorded in the cosmic archives. In spiritualist meetings, when someone who lived in the distant past is mentioned, even if they have reincarnated several times since then, they manifest through the medium and speak in exactly the same way as they did in the past. In reality, they themselves are not actually present, it is only their form, one that can be seen and almost touched. Every human being that incarnates on the earth receives a form which they leave behind at the end of their life – it is used for one incarnation only and is kept in the universe's archives. When humans incarnate again, they receive another form and it too will be recorded. There will always be new sacerdotal forms and they will all be recorded until...

Thought of the Day

We don't always possess the right criteria to identify those who are proud and those who are humble. People who are obedient and submissive are seen as humble and are appreciated: they don't disturb others or stand up to them. But is this really a virtue? No, because often, this humility is not inspired by wisdom and real understanding, but rather by fear, weakness and ignorance. People without money, social rank, the virtues or the abilities enabling them to assert themselves cannot achieve much. But if they were given such capacities, would they still be humble? Nothing is less certain. We cannot judge people before we come to know them and observe them. Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

Thought of the Day

Those who persist in describing hell as a place where miserable sinners are doomed to eternal punishment do not realize how this belief contradicts the love of God, for God never rejects anyone forever. This belief also goes against God's wisdom, because God, who is wise, never lets anything go to waste – in his creation, everything can be used and everything is put to use. This is another area to explore: the laws of the cosmic economy. As on the physical plane, the same is true on the psychic plane where unclean elements are sent to a place where they are transformed by certain entities. There is a whole system of pipes from which the purified matter emerges to then travel along other circuits to feed, water and fertilize other unknown regions. It is not always the same impure elements...

Thought of the Day

In order to stay on the right path, carefully study the inner relationships between your lower nature and your higher nature. When you make good resolutions – for example, if you want to get rid of a bad habit or want to help someone – know that your lower nature watches you and will send you suggestions and temptations to try to distract you from your good intentions. Or it might wait patiently to take its revenge. Humans' lower nature is inhabited by an entire population which, like all populations on Earth, does not only constitute honest, noble and generous beings, but also evil entities seeking to impose themselves there too. When your higher nature makes plans, if you want to bring them to fruition, seize the moments when your lower nature has dozed off, for otherwise it will rise...

Thought of the Day

Humans too often seek nourishment in what is not essential. They spend the good part of their time in occupations which bring nothing to their spirit, and they justify themselves by claiming that their daily life, their responsibilities, their family, their work, and society force them into activities in which the spirit cannot partake. This is not true, for the spirit can have its say anywhere. In order to always keep sight of what is essential, we must organize our life around this centre, the spirit, the spark which lives within us. As such, all our activities and even our distractions will contribute to nourishing life in us. The spirit dwelling in humans does not reject their liver, their intestines or their feet under the pretext that their work is not as noble. Everything has its...

Thought of the Day

Life is perpetual movement. This is why human beings must always be in motion and always look ahead. Those who refuse to move forward regress. They lose the memory of the divine imprint engraved in them and return to the unconscious state of stone which is nothing but sleeping consciousness. Despite their human appearance, so many people are, like stones, incapable of getting themselves moving – they have to be continually pushed to get them to shift. They should at least make the effort to leave the mineral kingdom to become plants and grow. Later, like animals, they will learn to move. It is a great ability to be able to look for food, to escape danger, and take cover from bad weather without outside intervention. The day humans develop the same capacities on the psychic plane, they...

Quote of the Day

So many people think they are highly intelligent and well informed! When you hear them talk, they have already seen everything, experienced everything, they know everything and they look upon everything around them superficially. This is why they learn almost nothing new and they become blasé. But if they were to try to see everything as if they were seeing it for the first time, not only would they truly learn something new, they would also experience new joys. When you breathe, you eat and you drink, do so as if for the first time, and everything will appear succulent to you. Act in the same way with the people around you: your husband, your wife, your children, and your friends. You might say that it will require a large amount of auto-suggestion to rediscover someone in whom you have...

Quote of the Day

The only science worth studying is the science of life. For all the other subjects you touch on, all the other activities you undertake, will only really bring you something if you focus on this one essential reality: life. So, instead of using it to satisfy your desires, ambitions, and whims, learn how to regard life as a goal, and employ all your faculties to reinforce, enlighten and purify it within you, because without life, you have nothing else. Your intellect, your heart and your will are all nourished by life. When you sustain this life in you, your intellect understands, your heart loves and rejoices, and your will is reinforced and creates. Without life, even knowledge is impossible, and there is no more philosophy, no more religion and no more art. This is why the science of...

Quote of the Day

All human beings, whatever their level of evolution, are called upon to progress again and again. If they don't make any effort, it is very often because they imagine the path is closed to them. But it might in fact be open. They must try their hand at various experiences to know what they are capable of. Even if they are not able to go very far, they must keep in mind that divine perfection is the goal of their life on earth. Divine perfection is of course an inaccessible ideal, but they must strive to attain it so as to build their future. They will then be able to master the disparate thoughts, feelings and desires pulling them in all directions and weakening them, and direct them, according to their own intentions, in their pursuit of regeneration. Every day there is much science...

Word of the Day

Waiting… disciples of a spiritual teaching learn to cultivate waiting, this inner state that keeps them awake. And so, when beings of light come to visit them, they will be ready to immediately open the doors of their soul to them. This attitude of anticipation alone enables them to perceive the events of the invisible world, the currents that flow through it, and the presences that bring them their blessings. You might say that you have never seen these presences. But is it really necessary to see them? You can feel them, and that is so much more important. If your heart and soul do not feel the revelations heavenly beings bring you, seeing them won't help very much. If you are waiting to receive a light or blessings from heaven, don't ever be impatient. Instead, learn to cultivate waiting,...
